Escaping the Black Hole in Healthcare

At Health Bank One™, we’re on a mission to bring transparency and choice to the healthcare industry and put patients back where they belong—in control. As we step into 2025, we believe this will be the year of the patient—a year where individuals finally take back control of their health and their healthcare costs.

For too long, the $5 trillion healthcare system has been designed to start every doctor visit from scratch, conceal costs, and inflate bills to justify higher premiums year after year. Worse, the system’s performance lags far behind other developed countries on almost every metric and patient perception of quality is at a 24-year low (Gallup 2024).

Behind these problems lies a deeper structural flaw—driven by corporate interests and HIPAA—that formed an information black hole at the heart of the system. The vacuum it creates keeps everyone in the dark, allowing costs to spiral while stifling competition and innovation.

Patients have been left with little choice, but new patient rights and Medical AI created an opportunity for fundamental change. On October 6th, 2022, legislators broke the record ownership barrier by granting patients non-negotiable rights to their data at no cost. Six months later, GPT 4.0 smashed the medical knowledge barrier making answers and expertise universally accessible. These advances set the conditions for a completely new information system.

On October 15th, 2024, Health Bank One launched a digital banking system for healthcare that breaks the transparency barrier, stripping the black hole of its power. Now anyone who wants to lower costs, improve care, or find cures can get all the information they need from the patient standing right in front of them.

This blog will be a space where we communicate our vision and progress in transforming healthcare. We’ll share updates on our product roadmap, highlight stories from users who have saved money and improved their health by taking control of their data, and expose the barriers that keep patients from accessing their own information. Together, we can replace the current corporate-controlled system with one that truly empowers patients. Thank you for joining us on this journey to redefine healthcare and make 2025 the year of the patient.
