Dr. Baker Harrell is a serial social entrepreneur, founding and leading multiple, successful organizations over his 20+ year career in the population and public health sectors. During his tenure, Baker secured more than $50M in capital and forged multiyear strategic partnerships with some of Texas’ leading agencies, organizations, and companies, including H-E-B, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the University of Texas System, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
Baker is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in population health. Baker’s multidisciplinary research centered on methods for engineering social change to improve health at scale. He has received both the Texas Health Champion award and the University of Texas Hall of Honor award for his work in the field and has been recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for his contributions.
